Elisa Casinader

 

Elisa is a Licensed Master Social Worker with passion and experience in working with individuals, couples, families and members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community. She has experience working with adolescents in school settings, providing family therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, co-leading groups, peer counseling at the walk-in center at the LGBTQ center and creating and co-leading a Bisexual group for Identity House.

Finding the right therapist can be a challenge. Elisa will work together with you to see if you feel they are a good fit. Elisa will support you through active listening and provide you with a space where you will not be judged and can speak freely. According to your needs, interest and unique circumstance, they will incorporate and work with you to provide the necessary interventions and modalities that suit your needs such as Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Ackerman Relational Approach (ARA), Mindfulness, Meditation, Art, play therapy and connect you to resources when needed.

Elisa graduated with a Clinical Social Work degree from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. Their undergraduate degree was in Sculpture and Performance Art from Pratt Institute. As a person of color, their schooling at Hunter College has helped them to practice through an anti-oppressive lens and strengths-based perspective in working with diverse populations and with people of color.
